Hope we'll find the informations contributed by our fellow trekkers about Limatik amuzing and interesting. Please read on .....

Johnel - Limatik (li-ma-tik) n. -- 1. People who are perinnial dependents on other climbers for food or supplies. 2.

Angelo - parasite that suck blood given by the mountaineering group........di lang sila nagpapaalam....pag-busog na bibitaw din sila...he he he ang takot sa kanila wag na umakyat.....

Marie - These small (2 inch long) leeches silently clings to your boots and makes their way to any exposed skin where they begins to suck the blood of their host. The bite however is painless but after sucking the blood, the blood then flows continuously from the victim for about 30 minutes due to an anti-clotting substance it injects when it bits you. Its more of a messy uncomfortable feeling than pain.[from its former use by physicians for bleeding patients] : any of numerous carnivorous or bloodsucking usually freshwater annelid worms (class Hirudinea) that have typically a flattened lanceolate segmented body with a sucker at each end

Sol - hmmm...mukhang galing encyclopedia [link]

Dindo - (L)intik na (I)big (M)anipsip (A)t (T)umoma ng (I)yong (K)atas

Kit - kalaban ng taong Takot sa UOD...he he he

Ruth - The "Limatik" or "Linta" in the common dialect is notorious for its stealth like feature. It has a covert way of attaching to the skin and sucking blood without ever knowing it until you bleed. They are very common especially on the wet season, wet forest areas or after a rain in the woods. Limatik can most easily be removed by sprinkling salt on them (which irritates their skin).DO NOT pull off the leech, its suckers may be left attached to the skin. Carefully burn them with a lit cigarette or match or apply a hot material, knife or any metal object put over a flame, on the leech. It will cause the leech to disengage its mouthparts and flee. Application of rubbing alcohol may also do the trick. Bleeding over the site of attachment will be noted. This is due to the anti-clotting factor that the leech uses for to get the blood. Some itchiness maybe noted. If the wound is cleaned, there is little risk of infection. The most dangerous thing seems to be scratching using fingernails.
